From Sadie, the bride:

“Dana and I met in middle school and were friends from the moment we met. We passed notes in class, went on adventures together, and spent a lot of time making each other laugh with our slightly oddball senses of humor. When we were in high school and had both dated a few people, we finally figured out that we would always be kindred spirits and made it official. Our friends even dubbed us “Sadana,” a nickname that has withstood the last nine years. After all this time, Dana and I are still very best friends and spend much of our time doing the exact things that made us so close in middle school- laughing, having good conversations, and going on adventures together. We want to explore India after the wedding (Dana is half-Indian), and have hopes of living in Switzerland for a little while once Dana finishes grad school. Right now we spend our time in the cute town of Santa Barbara, where Dana is working on his PhD in English, and I run two etsy businesses, one specializing in custom illustrations, and the other, paper goods. We live in a charming (and tiny) home with one cat named Emma, and one house bunny named Minette (Mini, for short).”

“For our wedding location we chose Jalama Canon Ranch, which is about an hour north of Santa Barbara. Dana’s family started the tradition of camping at Jalama Beach when he was just a kid, and we’ve continued the tradition into our mid-twenties. The minute we saw the ranch, we knew it was exactly what we were dreaming of but didn’t know existed: a rustic location with a little bit of magic behind it, like the setting in a Stevie Nick’s song. (<- we’re both kind of obsessed with the Gold Dust Woman, so that was an obvious bonus.) Also, since the ranch allows you to rent it out for three days at a time, we figured we could make a huge weekend extravaganza out of it with our families, and spend the whole time camping, playing music, and roasting s’mores. Rather than just having a wedding day, we’ll be having a wedding weekend!”
